Recognizing the demographics of Arizona, Georgia and Texas, demographics of these states, democrats feel that they can turn them into blue states. As the population ages and die off, younger people will no longer hold onto the prejudices of the past and will be more amendable to new alternatives, not their folk’s obsessions. Couple that with the influences of rapidly growing minority groups, there is ample opportunism that these states can be turned blue, especially since republicans have done a lot to reduce their voting strength thus antagonizing them and driving them into the camp of the democrats.

Arizona has a growing minority population that is estimated to form a majority population by 2015. The Mexican-American is the largest of this minority group with more than 25% of the total Arizona population. Other significant groups include Asians, Native Americans and Blacks. Most of these currently relate more strongly to the Democrat Party over the Republican Party. Unless the Republican Party drastically changes its policies, these groups will become permanently associated with the Democratic Party, just as blacks have.

Unlike Arizona, Georgia has a black population of more than 30%. The Latino population is about 9%. The white (non-Hispanic) is about 55%. Atlanta is the largest city in Georgia and it has had black majors for a number of years. As with other states the older population with prejudices long held are dying out and being replaced with thoughtful citizens that do not hold onto the prejudices of the past. This presents a significant opportunity for democrats to turn this state into a blue state.

In Texas, non-Hispanic whites constitute 45% of the population. Hispanics or Latinos constitute approximately 38% of the Texas population. Blacks or African Americans constitute approximately 12% of the population. These demographics appear to offer democrats the ideal situation to turn the state into a blue one.

Considering republican policies that adversely affect all of these minority groups, the democrats should go full throttle ahead to capture these states at future elections.

<![CDATA[DEFINING A SMALL BUSINESS]]>Wed, 17 Oct 2012 09:56:21 GMThttp://colonelschoice.com/blog/defining-a-small-businessPicture
My name is William C. Harrison. Some refer to me as Bill Harrison; some others refer to me as Wild Bill or WildWilli (see http://www.wildwilli.com). I am a retired small business owner and also a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel (see http://www.colonelschoice.com). The purpose of this article is to shed some light on the definition of a small business and offer an alternative to the way we currently define a small business.

Currently, a small business can refer to a one person business, a 2,500 manufacturing business or a billionaire filing his business as an individual. That’s an idiotic way to define a small business leaving many to wonder just what is a small business and politicians often refer to small businesses when they really mean large entities. I simplify the definition by proclaiming a small business as one that employs no more than 50 people. I recognize that different types of businesses have different needs. An engineering business can be successful with fewer people than a construction business or a manufacturing business. A 50 person manufacturing facility can be a big producer raking in millions of dollars but its need for big equipment outlays and financial resources are much more than that of a 50 person engineering company. Nevertheless, I maintain that the 50 person limit for a small business is justified.

Another basis for limiting a small business to 50 people has to do with financial calculations. If we assume that the average person in a 50 person entity gets paid $50,000.00 annually (this will vary considerably-some might make $25,000 while others make $100,000), then, 50 time $50,000 equals $2,500,000. If a small business owner makes 10% profit, then, his profit is $250,000.00 (obviously, this will vary with owners, some making much more than this while others lose money but I propose this as an acceptable model).

<![CDATA[TOUGH GETS TOUGH]]>Tue, 03 Jul 2012 13:38:03 GMThttp://colonelschoice.com/blog/tough-gets-toughPicture
When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going (JP Kennedy) is an expression often heard among us tough military types. It is true that we proud ourselves in being tough both mentally and physically. Mental toughness tends to reflect how well one can withstand pain and that is a reflection of how physically fit one is. So, you, they go hand-in-hand. Colonel Harrison often echoes his motto of “the difficult we do with ease, the impossible takes a little longer.” Well, much of this is a reflection of being mentally tough and physically tough.

Best choice comes from one’s mental and physical fitness. He who can maintain these disciplines in their proper order will most likely have a successful life. An Army officer or a commissioned officer tries to adhere to these principles. In Colonel Harrison’s case, it’s a matter of simply being the Colonel’s Choice.

Colonel’s Choice is a brand adopted by Lieutenant Colonel William C. Harrison to identify his relationship with strength, life and beauty. One’s strength represents his power, fortitude and vigor to achieve his goal. Life is reality; it is truth; and it is genuine. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but it is magnificent, fantactic and marvelous. Its a brand that includes the best choice, an Army Officer and a commissioned officer can have.
